Campaigns are built to deliver a coordinated series of nudges over time — but the actual delivery date for any given nudge can shift for a few different reasons. Below are the most common ones.
Please see "Campaign Best Practices" for tips on configuring your campaigns for optimal performance!
Cadence timing and delivery days
Each nudge in a campaign has its own cadence — how many days or weeks after the previous nudge was delivered it should be sent — and its own set of delivery days, i.e. which days of the week it's allowed to go out on. When a nudge becomes eligible to send based on its cadence, it also has to land on one of its selected delivery days. If it doesn't, delivery slides forward to the next available delivery day.
This is one of the more common reasons a campaign nudge doesn't go out exactly when expected, and it's independent of capping.
Capping limits
Message capping limits the number of nudges (of any kind) a recipient receives per day, week, or month, so account holders never feel over-messaged. This is an important element of maintaining a good user experience for your messaging recipients.
If a given recipient hasn't cleared their capping window when a campaign nudge is scheduled to send, delivery to that person is held until they become eligible — which can mean a nudge some recipients expected today doesn't arrive until tomorrow (or later). It isn't dropped, just queued until they're clear!
👉This really only impacts people testing a campaign; your actual account holders don't know the nudge didn't show up today, and they'll get it soon!
See "Manage Message Capping: Setting Limits and Overrides" for how to view or change your organization's capping limits.
Bottom line
A campaign nudge's actual delivery date can be shifted by capping limits or by its cadence/delivery-day settings — sometimes more than one at once. None of these mean the nudge failed; they're all part of how the Larky nudge® platform protects the account holder experience while still getting your message delivered as soon as possible!
⚠️ A note on timing precision
Currently, campaign nudge cadence intervals (e.g., "1 Week") as well as weekly & monthly capping are measured to the exact time of day the previous nudge sent, not just the date. In edge cases where the next campaign nudge's delivery time is earlier in the day than the previous one, this can also push delivery an extra day (or more, depending on other settings). We realize this level of precision doesn't align with how you think about scheduling, and we'll adjust this behavior based on client feedback soon.
