Collecting analytics from thousands (or tens or hundreds of thousands) of mobile devices isn't a perfect science! As detailed in our article Understanding the Big Picture with the Analytics Dashboard, not all those devices always send back every impression or tap. But most do, so we apply some math to what comes back to give you the most accurate view of the engagement for a given nudge or campaign.
The numbers get better
With years of experience collecting engagement details on mobile push notifications, we've found that some devices send those details back after a day or two - or even three or four. If you look at the analytics for a nudge that was sent earlier in the day or even the day before and then compare those to the analytics for that same nudge just a few days later, our analytics computations will have improved with the additional data points. As a result, the values shown may change a bit over time. In general, the early analytics are still a good indicator of how successful the nudge is. But if you want the most accurate results, give it a few days!
Why don't the numbers always match within the portal?
When viewing your analytics on the main dashboard and comparing those with the details on a specific nudge page, there are times when the values might not match precisely. Because mobile devices send back impression and tap details over time, we have a few different services that recompute analytics on a regular basis. The portal uses the output from those services to improve page loading time. Occasionally, the services don't sync up exactly, so different pages in the portal might show slightly different values. As with the topic above, after a few days, the numbers should all align once we've heard back from most devices.
