Larky nudge® Conduit connectors bring audience data from outside sources into the nudge® platform automatically. With the FTP connector, the nudge® platform picks up audience lists from an FTP site you host and turns them into segments in your nudge® environment. This article covers what the connector is, what you need to set up, and how your files should be formatted.
About this connector
The FTP connector is a Larky nudge® Conduit connector. It is an add-on, priced in addition to your monthly nudge® charge. To learn more about pricing, email your client success manager at support@larky.com.
Use cases
SavvyMoney
SavvyMoney reports can identify account holders who are strong candidates for a targeted message, such as those who clicked on a credit card offer or who may be eligible for debt consolidation. Instead of downloading those reports and uploading them to the nudge® platform by hand, you can have SavvyMoney deliver them to the FTP site you host. The nudge® platform picks up each new report overnight and turns it into a segment, so your campaigns can reach the audience while it's still fresh.
- SavvyMoney reports are multi-column CSV files that include an Email column, so the nudge® platform matches your account holders by email address. This requires that the nudge® platform has email addresses for your account holders. See Email availability below.
- SavvyMoney starts each filename with the report name, followed by an underscore. The segment takes the report's name, and each new file refreshes it.
Data warehouses and BI reporting tools
If your organization maintains a data warehouse or uses a business intelligence (BI) or reporting tool that can schedule exports to FTP, you can send audiences to the nudge® platform directly from your own data. Build a query for the account holders you want to reach, such as new account holders in their first 30 days, account holders with balances above a threshold, or those flagged by a propensity model. Then schedule it to export a CSV to your FTP site. The nudge® platform turns each new export into a segment, and your campaigns take it from there.
- The simplest export is a single column of email addresses or Federation IDs. If you use email addresses, see Email availability below.
- If your tool exports additional columns, include a header row that identifies the email column.
How it works
- You host the FTP site. Larky does not provide or host FTP. We connect to the site you maintain.
- We scan nightly. Each night, the nudge® platform checks your site for new files.
- New files become segments. Any brand new file is retrieved and converted into a segment in your nudge® environment, ready to target with campaigns.
- Matching names replace segments. If a new file's name matches an existing one, the existing segment's contents are replaced by the new file.
File requirements
Each file must be a CSV, and every file must use the same format. Which columns we look at depends on the file's shape.
Single-column files. Each row is assumed to be either a Federation ID or an email address, and we use it to match your account holders.
Multi-column files. Include a header row so we can identify the email column. If you'd rather match on Federation ID, we need to configure that column with you ahead of time. Fields containing commas must be quoted, as in any standard CSV.
Comment lines. Any line that begins with a # is treated as a comment and ignored, so a file can start with any number of descriptive lines ahead of the header row. Blank lines are ignored as well.
Email availability
Matching on email address only works if the nudge® platform has an email address on record for your account holders. Whether it does depends on your digital banking platform:
- Q2 and Alkami: Email addresses are available to the nudge® platform.
- Lumin: Supported through self-service email mapping. See For Lumin Clients: Map UUIDs to Member Email Addresses.
- Other platforms: Contact your client success manager at support@larky.com to find out whether email is available. If it isn't, matching on Federation ID may be an option, provided your files contain them.
Naming files and updating segments
The segment name is everything in the filename before the first underscore.
| Filename | Segment |
|---|---|
CardOffers_20261008.csv |
CardOffers |
CardOffers_20261009.csv |
CardOffers (replaces the contents above) |
AutoLoanPromo_20261009.csv |
AutoLoanPromo (new segment) |
Add a date or other unique suffix after the underscore so every upload is a new file. Keep the part before the first underscore consistent for any list you want to refresh in place.
A few behaviors to know about:
- A file with a header but no data rows is treated as "no matches" and empties the segment.
- A completely empty file is treated as an upload error and ignored.
- A file we can't read (for example, a missing header or email column) leaves the existing segment unchanged.
